Robert Eugene Fletcher

Robert Eugene Fletcher, 89, of Apollo, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Born on May 31, 1936, in Nu Mine, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Robert Foster Fletcher and Juanita May Roose.

Bob or “Fletch,” as he was affectionately known, graduated from Shannock Valley High School in Rural Valley in 1954. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Master’s of Education from the University of Pittsburgh, and later completed his Principal Certification at Penn State University.

He loved to golf and found great joy in tailgating at Penn State football games—cherished traditions that brought him laughter, friendship, and memorable weekends with those he loved. He was also an active and respected leader within the Elks organization, where he found purpose in community service and camaraderie. In addition, Bob was a founding member of the Ding-A-Lings Sports Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for student-athlete scholarships and youth athletic programs—causes close to his heart.

Bob is survived by his children, Robin Fort and her husband Robb, and their children Patrick and Hannah, Mike Fletcher and his wife Kathy, Bobby Fletcher and his wife Brenda, Ryan Fletcher and his wife Brittany, and their children Reagan and Alexander, Laura York and her children Kingston and Hudson, and Katie Prunczik and her daughter Lily.

The family would like to acknowledge Bob’s dear friend Gary “Stuff” Yendrek for his friendship and support over the years. 

Bob will be remembered as a proud grandfather and loyal friend. His love of family, education, and Penn State football will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
