Robert R. Greenleaf, 58, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Murrysville, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. He was born March 10, 1967, the son of the late Robert Kurtz Greenleaf and Barbara (Ruckle) Greenleaf of Murrysville.
Rob grew up in Murrysville and graduated from Franklin Regional High School, where he excelled academically and played varsity basketball. He was an avid Pitt fan, earning his bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, where he also helped manage the basketball team. Rob spent his career teaching at North Allegheny High School, but his true love was coaching basketball. He was an assistant coach at La Roche College and also coached in several high school and other college programs. His crowning achievement was taking the Franklin Regional team to the state championship in 1997.
Rob is survived by his mother, Barbara Greenleaf; two aunts; Bonnie (Tony) Mack, and Alice Jane Serra, as well as several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and students.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday June 8, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Murrysville on Monday June 9, 2025, at 11 a.m., (everyone please meet at the church), followed by interment at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park in Irwin.
