Robert “Bob” O’Connor, 80, of Murrysville, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Kellys II Personal Care Home in Latrobe with his wife by his side. He was born November 23, 1942, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Russell and Irene Bernthaler O’Connor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War as an Infantry Officer, where he received the Purple Heart and Silver Star for gallantry in action. He also taught at West Point. After 28 years of service in the reserves, he retired as Lieutenant Colonel. Bob took pride in taking care of his home, lawn, and garden. He enjoyed going out to dinner, entertaining, and the camaraderie of his friends at ballroom dancing. He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville. Prior to retirement, he was a Purchasing Agent for Westinghouse, ABB, and Bombardier Corporation. During his career he was also a real estate investor and landlord.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Stupak O’Connor; three sons, Michael (Charis) O’Connor, David (Lee) O’Connor, and Jim (Jan) O’Connor; four grandchildren, Regan, Avery, Addison and Brayden.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. Parting prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Mother of Sorrows Parish.
