Robert (Bob) C. Bedard, 80, of Plum Boro, died Thursday, April 17, 2025. He was born December 2, 1944, in Worcester, Mass., son of the late Lawrence (Larry) and Alberta (Bea) Bedard. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Mary. Early in his career, he was employed by ILC Industries and supported manned spaceflight operations at Kennedy Space Center. He was a member of the mission support team that helped to successfully return the Apollo 13 astronauts safely to earth. Later, he was employed with Westinghouse in their nuclear services division as a quality assurance engineer before retiring in 2006. Bob was an avid amateur radio operator and enjoyed pursuing contacts with other amateur radio operators around the globe. He was a member of Holiday Park United Methodist Church and volunteered with his wife in church activities. Bob is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Sharon) Bedard, of Greenville, SC and Timothy (Anastasia) Bedard, of Sewickley, PA; and four grandchildren, Isabella, Evan, Abby and Calahan. He is also survived by two sisters, Carol Pytko, of Massachusetts; and Pam Marshalkowski of Connecticut; and three nephews.
There will be no visitation and a graveside service for immediate family will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Boro with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holiday Park United Methodist Church Memorial Fund at 81 Sandune Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, 15239 in Bob’s name.
