Rodney “Rod” Lewis Peckham, 91, of Harrison City, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, surrounded by his wife, children, and sister. He was born on July 28, 1934, in Albany, NY, the son of the late Earl and Abbie (Lillie) Peckham. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers, James, Theodore, and Robert Peckham.
Rod started his academic years in a one room schoolhouse. He graduated from high school as class valedictorian in 1952 and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1956. A career, focusing on large transformers, started with a recruitment by Westinghouse, which included a graduate training program. Over the years, he transitioned into Westinghouse management. Assignments took him to various locations in the Pittsburgh and Sharon, PA areas. In 1990, Westinghouse sold the division to ABB. Rod and Barb moved to Muncie, IN with the new company. He retired in 1995 after 39 years and moved back to PA. Owning a second home in Kissimmee, FL meant winters were spent in the sun rather than the snow.
Rod married his college sweetheart, Barbara (Barb) in 1958. Their first child, David was born in 1959, followed by Richard in 1962, and Brian in 1965. Rod and Barb quietly celebrated their 67th anniversary on September 20, 2025.
Many interests filled his time including international travel, gardening, golf, word and number puzzles, country music, playing cards with friends and family, and spending time with his six grandchildren. Rod was a faithful member of Newlonsburg Presbyterian church for about 50 years where he served as an Elder.
Rod is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Malloch); his three sons, David (Marla), Richard (Cathy), and Brian (Melissa); his six grandchildren Jonah, Amanda, Amy, Donovan, Haley, and Gabriel; and his sister Susanne Peckham.
A Celebration of Life for Rod will be held at a later date. For online condolences, please visit www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church (newlonsburgchurch.org) or Feeding America (give.feedingamerica.org).
