Ronald R. Frieben, 81, of Murrysville entered into God’s kingdom on February 15, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born July 1, 1942, in Johnstown, PA to Stephen and Mary (Suehy) Frieben. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra L. (Barnes) Frieben; sister June Nesmith, and two brothers, Richard and William Frieben.
Ron was born and raised in Johnstown, PA. Upon high school graduation, Ron was offered a position as a pitcher by the MLB for the Philadelphia Phillies but instead pursued a college degree due to an elbow injury. He graduated from Pittsburgh University with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to retirement he was an Industrial Engineer for Westinghouse and later a Software Programmer for Ross Mould, as well as a member of Mother of Sorrows Parish.
He knew the importance of hard work, dedication, family, and being on time and following through on your word. In his spare time he was always keeping busy, mostly outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with family. He was very passionate about sports, particularly baseball and football. He played baseball and football from a very young age and spent countless hours studying and practicing on and off the field. Later in life he continued to pursue his love for sports by coaching his son’s football and baseball teams for grades 2 - 12 as an assistant coach.
Ron, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his son Daniel (Alena) Frieben, his daughter Karen Ruffner, granddaughter Kayla Ruffner; fiancée of Kyle Wood, and several nieces and nephews. Ron was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family that love him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever ingrained in all he knew.
