Ronald H. Koga, 85, of Export, PA, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born March 13, 1939, in Hilo, Hawaii, son of the late Seiji and Hisae (Yasukawa) Koga. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Janet Range.
Ron was an alumnus of Hilo High School (1957), Oregon State (BS - 1962), and the University of Washington (MBA). He was also a First Lieutenant with the 519 Signal Core of the U.S. Army (1963-1965). Ron was a career employee of Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Division (1970-1997) starting in Accounting at the Hanford Project (initially owned by General Electric) in Richland, WA. Ron's career guided him to the Pittsburgh area, Blairsville, PA, a return to Richland, WA, Columbia, SC and a final return to Pittsburgh where he retired as the General Manager of CNFD. Ron often remarked that his career was more than he could have ever imagined. After retirement, Ron enjoyed travelling (trips to Hawaii, Japan, and European river cruises), golf (stayed active with the “Restinghouse Golf League” and included three hole-in-ones), gardening, and “counting his money.”
Ron is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce (Kashiwagi) Koga; three children, Sheryl (John Cagney) Koga, Kevin Koga, Dana (Stephan Wardell) Koga; and a brother, Al (Mae) Koga; and several nieces and nephews.
