Ronald G. Melinchak, 78, of Murrysville, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. He was born January 16, 1946, in McKeesport, PA, son of the late Michael and Millie (Falco) Melinchak.
Ronnie was loved by all he met, and had the best laugh. He will be remembered for his stories, some of which were inappropriate, but were always told with a smirk and twinkle in his eye. He served in Vietnam as a member of the 25th Infantry Division, spending time in Cu Chi Tunnels. Despite his time in the US Army, he was an avid Navy football fan, attending games regularly. He used to say “he rooted for Navy 364 days of the year”, changing allegiances for the annual Army / Navy football game. Ronnie enjoyed working with his hands, and could be frequently be found in his basement workshop, building furniture, and experimenting with different woods, stains, and finishes. He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Parish in Murrysville, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cheryl (James) Melinchak; two daughters, Michele (Jon) Dobrinski, Meghan (Andy Smith) Melinchak; two grandchildren, Jared and Macie. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville. Parting prayers will be held 9:15 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Mother of Sorrows Church.
