Rosaline G. Shrout, 76, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 11th, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 14th, 1948 in Homestead, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Rosaline (Gessner) Pensenstadler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Roy Pensenstadler.
Rose graduated from Slippery Rock University with a degree in Education then acquired her Master's from the University of Pittsburgh. She spent a year in Finland at Jyvaskyla University on a Rotary scholarship. Rose taught health and physical education in the states of New York, Oregon, Ohio and finally at Plum High School. While living in Ohio, she coached the varsity gymnastics team who won the state championship. At Plum, she was the advisor to the Girl’s Leadership Association (GLA), a girl’s organization doing charitable projects in the community. Tuesdays and Thursdays were always golf days with her friends. Rose took great pride in donating blood with over 70 units to her credit. Winters found her in El Jobean, Florida at Treetops. She taught water aerobics at the Sampson YMCA as well as to the residents of Treetops. Water was her therapy. Rose had a strong Catholic faith and was a lector at Mother of Sorrows church. Caribbean cruises along with cruises in Hawaii and Alaska were some of her favorite vacations. Flowers and working in the yard were some of her favorite pastimes. Rose was an outgoing person who just loved people, her family and especially her grandchildren, Cayden and Hudson. She always felt life was better if she could bake you some of her famous chocolate chip cookies. Rose had an adventurous spirit and will be sorely missed.
Rose is survived by her husband of 51 years, Keith Shrout; two sons, Kevin (Lindsey Smith) Shrout, Mark (Julie) Shrout; two grandchildren, Cayden and Hudson.
