Rose “Cookie” Bence, 90, formerly of Murrysville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at The Grande Senior Living in Brooksville, Florida. She was born on July 26, 1935, in Wilkinsburg, daughter of the late Theodore and Margaret (Gallagher) Teets. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Bence, her brother, Joseph Teets, and her sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Teets and Margaret Louise Sipes.
Cookie married Jim in Wilkinsburg, Pa in 1954, and they were married for 69 years. She devoted her life to providing a wonderful home to raise her two children and played a significant role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After her children were raised, she worked outside the home as well to help support her family, working difficult jobs on her feet mostly, doing assembly work, but always with a smile and never a complaint. Cookie was a long-time member of Mother of Sorrows Church in Murrysville where she enjoyed attending mass and nurturing her strong Catholic faith. She was a longtime member of the Italian Club in Export and enjoyed going for weekly gatherings with family and friends. Cookie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and devotion to her family. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all those who loved her.
Cookie is survived by her two children, James (Jacqueline) Bence, and Deborah (Michael) Morgan; her six grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.
