Rose (Kuznik) Close, age 98, formerly of Murrysville, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was born on the family farm in Export, PA, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Gorsha) Kuznik. Rose was the youngest of 8 children, all of whom predeceased her. She was married to her devoted husband, Thomas, and they had 67 wonderful years together before he passed away in 2017.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Linda, of Florida, her son, Thomas (Martha) of Pennsylvania, granddaughter, Lindsay (Thomas) Gromek, of Pennsylvania, grandson, Nathan (Leilani) Close, of Washington and her great grandson, Bennett Thomas Gromek who fondly referred to her as “RoRo.” In addition, she is survived by sister-in-law, Agatha Kuznik, sister-in-law Margaret Fletcher and several dear nephews and nieces.
Rose was a homemaker while her children were little, then worked in the kitchen of a Murrysville nursing home and a freezer meat business. Finally, she worked as a circuit board assembler for Robicon until her retirement.
From her youth farm days until very recently, Rose maintained her love of gardening even tending to a patio garden where she proudly produced green onions.
Rose was a member of Murrysville First United Methodist Church. She embraced time spent with family and friends. In early retirement years, she was very involved in the Murrysville Senior Center activities, enjoyed annual family reunions and monthly lunches with her nieces and nephews.
Some years ago, she and Tom moved to William Penn Senior Suites and Personal Care. The family would like to thank the administration and staff for their excellent care and loving attention provided to our mother.
Although Rose left her family with so many good memories she will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials in Rose’s name may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 3916 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville, PA 15668. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at William Penn Senior Care, Jeannette. For online condolences, please visit www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com.
