Ruth Claire Marie (Krakovsky) Rafeew

Ruth Claire Marie Rafeew, 89, of Monroeville, formerly of Scott Township, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born October 17, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Stefan and Anna (Paulovkin) Krakovsky. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Rafeew; eight brothers and sisters, Helen (Steve) Golovich, Irene (Otto) Witzorreck, Joan Gorham, Robert (Lynette) Krakovsky, Edward Krakovsky, Steven Krakovsky, Esther Pawlak and Joseph (Irene) Krakovsky. Ruth will be missed by four children, Michael Rafeew, Gerald (Lauren) Rafeew, Vincent (Cynthia) Rafeew, Christine (Steve) Gamber; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Claudia Blaszkiewicz; brothers-in-law, Bill Gorham and Raymond Pawlak; a sister-in-law, Kitty Krakovsky and numerous nieces and nephews. 
     Ruth was raised in Lawrencville, pa with her 9 brothers and sisters. She worked in the Dr's. Cafeteria at St.Francis hospital before meeting her husband and becoming a full time mother of 4, which she carried out with patience and love.
     Ruth loved spending time and socializing with family always prepared for a rousing game of cards or scrabble.  After the loss of her husband of 63 years she began her life at her retirement community. There she became a fierce wii bowler and an avid bingo player and enjoyed the outings and activities, crafting, sewing, singing. She left a bit of sunshine on everyone she met.
     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Hart Funeral Home Inc., Murrysville, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. Inurnment at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be held privately at a later date. www.hartfuneralhomeinc.com.
