Sandra Pajak Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" L. Pajak, 68, of Export, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at UPMC East. She was born October 8, 1956, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Bernard and Alberta (Miller) May. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Pajak; her sister, Darlene Kirch; and her brother, Bernard "Buddy" May.

Sandy began working for the Franklin Regional School District at Sloan Elementary as a Playground Aide, then moving to full-time as a Special Education Paraprofessional. She served in that role for 22 years, working with some individual students as well as in Learning Support classrooms at nearly every one of the school buildings.

After her retirement from Franklin Regional Schools, Sandy became involved with the quilting group at Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church called the Blessed Peacemakers. At first, Sandy made personal quilts for all her family members and friends, but then she delivered at least 50 quilts and hundreds of Port-pillows to the Cancer Center from the Blessed Peacemakers. Sandy was a pioneer in her treatments by participating in 3 clinical trials at the Cancer Center with the hopes of helping other patients with cancer. Sandy was always a joy wherever she went, always helping everyone. She was much loved by many friends and acquaintances because she was so generous and thoughtful to everyone she met.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Pajak; her son, Christopher Pajak; brother-in-law, Dave Kirch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
