Susan Beer Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan (Sue) J. Beer, 85, of Murrysville, who left this world peacefully on January 23, 2026, while on vacation in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.

Sue was born on August 23, 1940, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Edwin and Leona Begin. She grew up in a loving community where she developed lifelong friendships and treasured memories, including many friends from Notre Dame High School.

On October 18, 1958, Sue married her devoted husband, Robert (Bob) W. Beer. For sixty-five years Sue called Murrysville, Pennsylvania, her home. She and Bob were longtime parishioners of Mother of Sorrows Parish and were active members of their church community, forming enduring bonds with neighbors and friends. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and partnership.

In addition to her husband, Sue is survived by her beloved sister, Jeanne Kroeger. She was a proud and loving mother to Robert Beer (Diane), Katie Fisher (Douglas), John Beer (Jacqueline), Paul Beer (Polly), and David Beer (Jennifer). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Allison Beer (Jacob Tisdale), Brian Beer (Madeline), Kevin Beer; Emily Kenna (Patrick), Daniel Fisher (Morgan), Joseph Fisher (Sarah), John Fisher, Andrew Fisher; Abigail Hunter (Nathanael), Mallory Beer, Jillian Beer; Maria Beer, Owen Beer, Lillian Beer; Milana Beer, and Silas Beer. Sue was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Franklin Beer; Teresa, Benedict, and Augustine Kenna; Landon and Lucas Fisher; Peter Fisher; and Atticus Hunter.

Sue will be remembered for her generous heart and gentle spirit. Throughout her life, she found joy in reading, working crossword puzzles, and traveling, which included camping, beach trips (especially the OBX), Amish country weekends with Katie, daughters-in-laws, and sister Jeanne, and cruising. She was an avid and competitive card player and was involved in numerous bridge groups and other card clubs for over sixty years. Sue was a longtime volunteer for many organizations. She was heavily involved in her children’s school activities, and she volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over thirty years. She loved being with her grandchildren and attended many of their activities, sporting events, and performances.  Above all, she cherished her time with family and always created a welcoming home. Her legacy of kindness and grace will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hart Funeral Home, 3103 Lillian Avenue, Murrysville, PA 15668. Parting Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the funeral home, and as Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church is currently closed due to construction, Monsignor Michael Begolly, Pastor of Mother of Sorrows Parish, will preside over a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 2, 2026, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville, PA 15146. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Monroeville.
