William F. "Bill" McLay

William F. “Bill” McLay, 75, of Greensburg, died Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  Mr. McLay was born December 1, 1946, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late William and Mary Rose McLay.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Richard Moran, his sister Margaret (Steve) Mizic, and an infant son.  He was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church and was a faithful volunteer at St. Emma’s Monastery in Greensburg.  He was a 1964 graduate of Holy Innocence High School in Pittsburgh and earned a BA from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1969.  He was a financial expert and contributed to the success of many Pittsburgh area companies, including Woodings-Verona, U.S. Steel, Foster, and ProGrass.  He loved model trains, classic cars, woodworking, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and spending his time with his family and friends.  He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Katie (née Deible); his children, Shannon (Dr. Richard) Kozakiewicz, Heather (Gregory, LTC, U.S. Army - retired) Davidson, and Erin Gossett; and his grandchildren Gus Gossett, Virginia Davidson, and Grace Gossett.  He is also survived by his sisters Mary Alice Wagner and Michelle Spadafore; numerous in-laws and cousins, twenty-two nieces and nephews, and much-loved lifelong friends. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Hart Funeral Home in Murrysville.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 21, 2022, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Harrison City. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH.  There will be a private burial at a later date at St. Barbara’s Cemetery.
