William “Bill” Bredin Torrance, 76, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025. He was born on March 14, 1949, in Export, the son of the late John Milo and Elizabeth (Irwin) Torrance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen (Green) Torrance, and his siblings, Jack Torrance and Helen Torrance.
Bill was proud to be a Nittany Lion. His years at Penn State brought lifelong friendships, cherished memories, and his beloved wife, Ellen. As a member of Beta Theta Pi, he found camaraderie and a sense of belonging that remained an important part of his life.
He never lost his love for connecting with people—Bill had a gift for friendship that only deepened with time. He delighted in visiting old friends and never missed an opportunity to make new ones, whether on the golf course, at a tailgate, or while sharing a good story.
In retirement, he divided his time between Export, Bellefonte, and North Redington Beach, enjoying biking, kayaking, and time spent with his grandchildren.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who never missed an important moment or milestone. His love and guidance will continue to live on through all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his two sons, James (Natalie) Torrance and Joseph (Ginny) Torrance, and his six grandchildren, Eloise, Calvin, Henry, Priscilla, William, and Vivian.
Memorial visitation for Bill will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hart Funeral Home, Inc. in Murrysville, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvin's Crusade for Sturge-Weber Syndrome Research at the Kennedy Krieger Foundation. Please direct your gift to the Office of Philanthropy, Kennedy Krieger Foundation, 707 N. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21205, or KennedyKrieger.org/CalvinsCrusade.
