William H. Weir III, 79, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, at UPMC East Hospital in Monroeville. He was born on May 17, 1946, in McDonald, PA, son of the late William H. Weir II and Margaret Ann (Martin) Weir.
Bill was a standout football player (linebacker) earning a full scholarship to the University of Arizona. He was a graduate of Bethany College and Duquesne College, earning a Master’s Degree in Education. Bill met the greatest love of his life, Louise Ross (Bassett) Weir at Bethany College.
When Bill was introduced to the Bassett family and their farm in Murrysville PA, and after a 12-year run in education, he decided his family would return to the Murrysville family horse farm and bought a ServiceMaster Franchise. Bill was the hardest working husband, father, and neighbor and provided so many great memories for his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews making hay, riding horses, cow wrangling, always with a smile. Bill believed that love carried with grace, class, and fun is the most important gift we receive, and he will never be forgotten.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Louise Ross (Bassett) Weir, and the other greatest loves of his life, his daughter, Megan Weir-Leven (David Leven); his sons, Martin Weir (Nikki Mason Weir), and Benjamin Weir (Christine Wallisch Weir); his ten grandchildren, Will, Quin, Jake, and Mason Weir, Max, Oliver and Theo Leven, and Wes, Knox, and Joanna Weir. His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest loves and legacies.
Funeral services for Bill will be private with his family.
