To the family and friends,

My heart reaches out to you with sympathy for your recent loss. I know how difficult this time can be, and want to assure you that you are not alone. God has not left you. The Bible reminds us that God is the “God of all comfort” who sustains us through these difficult times so we can bring His comfort to others who are hurting (2 Corinthians 1:2-4).

It was an honor to have worked with Bob for many years. He was a great contributor and we always valued his wit and his great outlook. He was a great person who made a difference. On behalf of everyone here at Bechtel Plant Machinery Incorporated, I express my condolences to Bob's family.

My deepest sympathy on your loss of a treasured man.

Twenty some years ago a coworker was applying for a new job and had to answer "Who is your role model and why?" He wrote: "My role model is Bob Bakin. He is one of the most dignified human beings. I never met anyone as devoted to both his family and his work. He has more physical and mental vigor than most people half his age. His uncanny desire to continually learn and improve betrays the fact that he has worked for more than 40 years for Westinghouse. Cal Ripken has nothing on Bob Bakin." I saved his words as a reminder of not only how great a person Bob was, but also how I want to live like Bob lived.
